Shaft of the molten salt pump
One thrust bearing shall be located in the pump discharge head between the stuffing box and the pump-motor coupling and it shall withstand the vertical thrusts produced by the pump assembly.
Cooling water if needed will be supplied from an external sourcepling and it shall withstand the vertical thrusts produced by the pump assembly.
The pump shaft shall be provided with a sufficient number of radial bearings to provide a stiff rotor construction. Considerations shall be given for dry running at start-up for pumped fluid lubricated bearings.
The operating life in continuous use of the bearings under the conditions required by the design of the pump will not be any less than 100.000 service hours under any circumstances.
