Blowers of the Heat Removal System
Air is used as the cooling medium and is forced through appropriate ducting and the annulus of each of the two salt-to-air concentric pipe exchangers by a separate positive displacement blower. After the air leaves the heat-exchangers it is discharged through a stack into the atmosphere at approximately 600°F.
Positive displacement blowers were selected because of their reliability, economy, and capability to move large quantities of atmospheric air against a relatively high pressure drop.
