The design criterion of the shell of molten salt pump

    The role of molten salt pump volute makes kinetic energy that impeller transfer to the liquid conversion become pressure energy. Because it does not produce the head, so you should make the water pressure loss minimum. The test data and experience indicate that the measures of meeting the requirements have no significant effect on the hydraulic loss of the volute. The following has proved that the volute is applicable.

    1. You should guarantee that side wall’s angle of the volute in each section is the same.  And you should make that the side wall’s angle of the volute in each section does not equal to each other. Experience has shown that results of breeding method are same. But if you use the sidewall angle, you can reduce the cost of the model and save hours of work.
    2. The gap between the two sides of the impeller’s front or back and the casing of the spiral case should be symmetrical.
    3. You should ensure that all the section area’s Smooth of the spiral case changes.
    4. If the pump’s speed is less than 40, you should consider adopting a circular volute. The multistage pump should not adopt the circular volute.
    5.The total diffusion’s angle of the diffusion’s tube is in the range of 7-13.
    6. In the volute design, around the impeller should be enough space. Especially in the multi-stage pump,  between volute casing and impeller cover plate should have sufficient space, to ensure that each side 12mm end on quantity and casting deviation.
    7.The hydraulic design method of molten salt pump pressure water chamber is very important, a lot of people think of impeller hydraulic design is the key. The view that vortex shell is not important is wrong. In fact, loss of hydraulic power is larger.
