Problems with the tracing system

    As already mentioned, during the launch of the tracing system, it was important to leave the lines in operation and avoid, as far as possible, further mechanical works on lines already traced and tested. Nevertheless, a problem encountered was the degradation of cable during the start up after periods of inactivity. Lines already tested and verified were failing and had to be revised after an inactive period, during filling and construction completion. This suggested that the tracing system must be turned on and run continuously even if the lines do not have fluid during the start up; this prevents degradation of the cable due to moisture or other agents.
