Tank immersion heaters

    This type of plant included auxiliary heating systems to avoid salts solidification when the weather was either too cold or without solar radiation. The pilot plant design included four electrical heaters in each tank, distributed with an angle of 90 and at 350 mm from the bottom to ensure good heat transfer from the heaters to the salts and to avoid the interference from the frozen salts potentially present in the bottom of the tank . Each heater has 7.5 kWe that according to calculations would compensate heat losses through the bottom and walls of the tank. The heaters were from Chromalox, installed in a stainless steel 321 welded sheath, with diameter 114.3 mm and thickness 3 mm. Each heater had three electrical resistances at 120  held with a stainless steel 304 L cylinder with a diameter of 58/54 mm.
